At Sea en route to Cartagena

26th October 2014

Yet another day at sea on the way to Cartagena, Columbia. The sea is glassy and there is little to no breeze. By midday the temperature has reached 30 C, and it is much more comfortable inside in the air conditioning than out on the deck.

HAL continues on their strong track record of stuff ups, this time with our shore excursions. I was just checking through the vouchers for our booked excursions for the next few ports when I realized we were missing one, for Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica.

A visit to the shore excursions desk, soon cleared this up. Our booked excursion had been cancelled, but they had failed to notify us, or the Smalls, so we had no booked excursion for Costa Rica now and it is not the sort of place you jump in a cab at the wharf.

Any way, after the usual apology, which is all they seem to be good at, we found a different tour which didn’t really cover any part of what we had originally booked, and made a booking for it instead.

Kathy had a meeting with the future cruise consultant this afternoon, (as part of our compensation is a future cruise credit), and she told the consultant we were pretty disappointed with this cruise so far. She got the usual “it’s never happened before” story, and that normally everything goes without incident, and only time they had missed a port before was when there was a hurricane.

Hopefully they will start to get it right soon.

At least the girls found something to do
